Meet Louise Clayson, general manager at C&D Fabrications
At SEC Works Group, we’re very proud of the calibre of our people and we invest a lot of time supporting staff through training and apprenticeships.
Louise Clayson is general manager at C&D Fabrications, our company that specialises in commercial vehicle alterations. She thrives in what is an essentially male-orientated industry.
She studied mechanics at Canterbury College and volunteered at our firm South East Coachworks in Faversham for work experience. They soon recognised her skills and energy and eight years ago offered her a full-time job.
Louise is now a qualified Level 3 mechanic with experience in metalwork; metal fabrication; coachbuilding; woodwork and light vehicle repairs. As if that wasn’t enough, she also completed a course in business management – all of which makes her extremely well qualified for her role running all aspects of C&D Fabrications.
Louise excels at her job because, in addition to being extremely proficient at all the technical elements, she is also very good at working with people. She says: “I love dealing with customers who really appreciate the quality of C&D’s service. I also work with dealers and salespeople from around the country and of course the team of coachbuilders at the workshop. I really enjoy how varied the job can be, no two projects are the same. We all work very hard to make sure projects are finished on time and to a high standard. And that all finished vehicles meet DVLA requirements. I’m very proud of what we achieve as a team which makes my role very rewarding.”
